About Filmworks

Filmworks was established in Dubai in 1998 by CEO and Executive Producer Tim Smythe, who has over 25 years experience in the industry, working across the globe on feature films, TV dramas, commercials and documentaries.

Filmworks has invested heavily in developing the commercial and feature film industry within the UAE. Filmworks is responsible for opening the region to the international facilitation of commercials and feature films leading to a continual stream of productions now being shot within the UAE, and attracting films like Syriana and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol to Dubai, as well as The Kingdom and Djinn to Abu Dhabi.

Over the years, Filmworks has collaborated and secured relationships with the top talent and companies in the business. We believe that people are our natural resources and today the Filmworks group employs a vibrant team of over 70 professionals from across the globe as well as having sponsored and trained over 60% of the freelance crew within the UAE. Our commitment to employ and train the most experienced and talented staff available, allows us to consistently produce work that lives up to the high standard associated with our name.

Our Network

In order to develop an industry, it is imperative to attract the right calibre of experience and professionalism. Filmworks was directly responsible for bringing the Kodak film laboratories to the UAE, while also forming joint ventures with Arri Media, London (a leading equipment rental company) and The Chimney Pot, Sweden (a leading post production company).
